2020: Start of drones in Udmurtia for the notification of the population

On April 22, 2020 the General Directorate of Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia on the Republic of Udmurtia announced the beginning of use of drones with loudspeakers for the notification of inhabitants about need to observe self-isolation. Unmanned aerial vehicles are used in Grakhovsky and Alnashsky districts of the region within fight against spread of a coronavirus of COVID-19.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations uses the device of aircraft type with the remote module of voice broadcasting "Alarm-1". The press service of the ministry noted that this UAV was developed at the initiative of the chief of General Directorate of Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia on Udmurtia major general Pyotr Fomin in 2013.

Start of drones will be carried out depending on weather conditions. The approximate schedule for April 22, 2020: from 12 p.m. till 2 p.m. in the village of Alnashi, from 3 p.m. till 5 p.m. in Grakhovo.  UAVs loudly reproduce the notification "Stay at home, observe the self-isolation mode". UAVs fly at the height of 150 meters that provides excellent audibility for the population, declared in department.

Since April 16 in the territory of Grakhovsky and Alnashsky districts  the quarantine because of spread of a coronavirus of COVID-19 works. By April 21, 2020 in these municipal entities 22 cases of infection are registered. The total quantity of the infected COVID-19 in the republic reached 153, eight people recovered.

Drones become more and more popular technology means for fight against a pandemic. Earlier in April, 2020 the unmanned aerial vehicles developed by the Tomsk State University (TSU) began to deliver tests for COVID-19 and medicines to the remote Russian villages. Specialists promised to expand functionality of the devices, having added it features for disinfection of streets and the notification of the population.[1]
