Since April 29, 2020 across the territory of the Innovation center "Skolkovo" the Yandex robot courier is engaged in delivery of documents and sendings . Rover. Skolkovo reported about it on April 29, 2020.

The robot is completely independent: he plans the movement, monitors a surrounding situation and goes round obstacles. Unlike unmanned vehicles, Rover moves on sidewalks. Offices of administration Skolkovo and department of Russian Post where the robot also delivers correspondence, are located in different parts of the Innovation center therefore routes of Rover can make several kilometers. The control of the robot courier happens to the help of the smartphone: employees Skolkovo can set to Rover the task, open and close it and also watch movement of the robot on the card. In case of need it is possible to ask for the help engineers of Yandex.

Yandex. Rover was conceived to help people to automate routine tasks of delivery of small loads. It is our first experience of use of the robot outside Yandex ecosystem. We are glad that Rover organically fitted into workflows of the Innovation center. Rover can deliver sendings from online stores, products and ready dishes. It can also be used for transportation in big premises — for example, in warehouses or in shopping centers.

For the first time the robot with artificial intelligence onboard helps to optimize delivery process, and it is not an experiment, but the working service.
