2020: Creation of contact lenses with augmented reality
At the end of April 2020, California startup Mojo Vision attracted more than $51 million in investments for mass production of contact lenses with augmented reality. The company plans to start selling its product by the end of 2020.
According to the developers, Mojo smart contact lenses can change the method of human interaction with the world around. The lens has a display that allows users to receive all the necessary relevant information without looking at the screen of a computer or smartphone. Mojo Vision calls this concept "invisible computing," that is, a platform that gives the user the opportunity to focus on the real world instead of the gadget screen.
Mojo contact lenses are equipped with a number of patented technologies: they include a small and dense dynamic Mojo display, an image sensor optimized for computer vision, adjustable wireless radio and motion sensors for eye tracking and image stabilization.
The Mojo Vision AR display with 14,000 ppi, which was introduced in May 2019, has become the smallest and most contrasting display ever used to demonstrate dynamic or moving content. Information is transmitted through a display that projects incoming data to the environment. So far, it looks like green text superimposed on a picture of a person's look.
The new round of financing brought support and capital to strategic investors that will allow us to continue technological development, "said Drew Perkins, CEO and co-founder of Mojo. - Such support will allow us to soon use Mojo to help people with visual impairment.[1] |
By the end of April 2020, Mojo Vision does not even name the estimated cost of contact lenses with augmented reality.
