In the first quarter of 2023, the volume of domestic contact lens production increased by 10.5% compared to the same period in 2022. This was announced in August 2023 by the first deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Vasily Osmakov.

According to him, if they pay attention to the Russian manufacturer, it means that the quality will only improve. Osmakov stressed that there is a system of state regulation of the circulation of medical devices. Therefore, if the products are allowed to turnover, they are a priori high-quality.

The first deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade also noted that some manufacturers make soft lenses, some are tough. At the same time, there are companies that are engaged in the production of several types at once.

The first Russian manufacturer of contact lenses is the Vologda company KonKor. This manufacturer was the first to launch contact correction tools. Other manufacturers by August 2023 include:

• "Svetlens";
• "Ophthalmix."

In August 2023, it became known that the Okey Vision Technologies company will invest 275.3 million rubles in the creation of a production of solutions for the care of contact lenses. The plant will be located on the premises of the Lomonosov Innovation and Technology Center (ITC) in the Dubna Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The launch of production is scheduled for 2024.

The area of ​ ​ the plant will be more than 2 thousand square meters. m. The new facility will produce contact lens care products, including a single-stage peroxide system that is used to clean, disinfect, remove protein deposits, wash, store and care for all types of rigid gas-permeable contact lenses. By August 2023, according to the Ministry of Investment of the Moscow Region, such systems are not produced in Russia.^[1]
