2021: Acuvue Oasys Announcement - Contact Lenses with Pupil Optimization Technology
In mid-March 2021, Johnson & Johnson Vision announced the release of Acuvue Oasys multifocal contact lenses with a design optimized for pupil size. New lenses are available in the Canadian and US markets.
According to a press release, these lenses extend Acuvue Oasys' portfolio and offer a new eye care option for patients with presbyopia. Presbyopia is a natural age-related process of reducing the ability of the eye to accommodate associated with lens aging. Often this condition is called the "problem of short hands," since most people after 40 years of age have to move the text away from their eyes to read a small font.
Acuvue Oasys multifocal lenses use individual optimization technology that takes into account the size of the patient's pupil depending on age and age. The same technology is used in one-day multifocal lenses 1-Day Acuvue Moist Multifocal. Thanks to this, the new lenses provide high visual acuity at all distances, allowing people with presbyopia to equally clearly distinguish between distant and close objects.
In addition, these lenses use "hybrid back curve" technology and a patented built-in wetting agent that does not wash out when blinking throughout the day. The agent creates a stable moisturizing pad on the surface of the contact lens from morning to late evening, preventing dry and irritating eyes.
Acuvue Oasys multifocal contact lenses are a long-awaited solution for patients with presbyopia who do not want to use reading glasses, "said Dr. Xiao-Yu Song, head of J & J Vision's international research and development department, in a press release[1] |
