Dell Technologies created virtual working environment for "Design institute No. 1"

2020: Creation of a virtual working environment

On June 8, 2020 the Dell Technologies company announced project completion on creation of a virtual work place of the engineer for "Design institute No. 1".

The design institute needed more thorough infrastructure for support of the engineers working with applications of three-dimensional visualization – AutoCAD 3D, to Revit and so forth. For June, 2020 staff of 120 specialists of Design institute executes design, visualization and rendering of models which become real buildings later - but for several years productivity of work with applications was limited to imperfection of the used workstations. Engineers needed more computing power for support of difficult graphics.

Besides, it was important to IT personnel of Design institute to receive centralized operation and more modern infrastructure for support of work of engineers finally to simplify control of workstations and to focus on more important projects.

For the solution of these tasks the Design institute selected Dell Technologies as the partner in deployment of edgecore-solutions and creation infrastructures of virtualization of desktops. The proposed solution is based on servers Dell EMC PowerEdge NVIDIA Grid NVIDIA TESLA K1, M60, rack with a computing core, and the broker VDI VMware Horizon who is started based on the thin clients Dell Wyse 3040 constructed on to the operating system Wyse ThinOS. Servers Dell EMC PowerEdge and video cards NVIDIA provide the good performance, scalability and automation and also faster access to applications.

The design institute simplified management of the park of workstations using a packet of Dell Wyse Management Suite which allows to connect quicker new employees, to configure and update thin clients of Dell Wyse. IT specialists of the customer received the solution which allowed to exclude completely interruptions in work of business when updating AutoCAD 3D and Revit. Centralization of management using virtualization of desktops allows engineers to concentrate on what is really important: on the projects bringing benefit to business.

The created solution also expanded cooperation between engineers of the organization. The system of virtualization of desktops Dell Technologies helps engineers more intensively - so is productive - to interact among themselves. Virtualization of desktops of Dell Technologies allows to reduce costs and to raise an economic benefit of projects of the customer.
