On September 14, 2015 announced Dell release of the version of the Wyse ThinOS operating system of version 8.1. The operating system for thin clients of ThinOS 8.1 is not susceptible to viruses and in its structure support of almost all protocols for high-performance jobs and virtualization of applications, including PCoIP for VMware Horizon View.

The Wyse ThinOS operating system is developed for thin clients of Dell Wyse (from models of initial level to high-performance clients). The product is focused on the organizations where need data protection and intellectual property and are not able to afford idle times in work - from start before receiving a virtual desktop of only 10 seconds.
In this version:
- protection functions are improved. The unique monolithic and most compact firmware in the world is completely protected from the attacks and is absolutely unreceptive to viruses and a malicious code, there is a connectivity to a remote desktop on hardwired connection or Wi-Fi, the possibility of two-factor authentication is implemented.
- connection options are improved. ThinOS 8.1 OS has ample opportunities for connection of peripheral devices:
- support of USB interface 3.0 along with support of the expanded list of keyboards, mice, webcams, headsets, printers, monitors and other peripheral devices. A system helps to create VPN connections and provides the increased speed of the WAN connections in comparison with the previous version.
- support in for system operation in the field of health care is improved. ThinOS 8.1 supports uniform accounts of Caradigm that allows users — doctors and employees of medical institutions — to use badges for authentication and access to a personal virtual work place on the platform of thin and zero clients of Dell Wyse across all territory of organization.
- simplicity of management. The version simplifies management of the park of the thin clients (TC) of Dell Wyse. Available options of control of infrastructure:
- management of the shopping mall park using opportunities of autoconfiguration of shopping mall or the solution Dell Wyse Device Manager or, as option, the solution Dell Wyse Cloud Client Manager placed in a cloud which helps to obtain detailed information on thin clients.
ThinOS 8.1 supports protocols of remote access to desktops and applications, provides to customers the free choice of a method of integration of thin clients of Dell Wyse into the VDI environments and provides management tools.
Wyse ThinOS 8.1 OS will be available to the order at partners of Dell since October 1, 2015.
