Imports of vending machines to Russia increased by 74% to 12.8 thousand units

In 2023, 12.8 thousand vending machines were imported to Russia. This is about 74% more compared to 2022, when 7.4 thousand devices were imported. Industry trends are addressed in the BusinesStat survey published in late December 2024.

The study takes into account mechanical, electronic-mechanical and automated vending machines. The most common types of retail installations are models for the sale of drinks (carbonated and still water, oxygen cocktails) and snacks, food (lunchomats or wind cafes), hygiene products and piece non-food products (noscomats, flower machines, lampomats). Vending equipment also includes checkpoints, payment and self-service terminals, information kiosks, auto-massage chairs, photo booths and other systems with various technical devices.

According to estimates, 32.7 thousand vending machines were imported to Russia in 2019. Most (56.6%) came from mechanical devices for selling non-food products from China. In 2020, a fall of 72.1% was recorded with a final result of 9.1 thousand units. This is due to a decrease in supplies from China (minus 15.8 thousand units) and South Korea (minus 3.1 thousand units). The reason was the severe restrictions imposed in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, the import of vending machines to Russia increased by 47.9% - to 13.4 thousand units. The main supplies were from Belarus (40.6% of the total), Hong Kong (34.2%), China (13.1%) and Italy (8.2%). In 2022, due to the deteriorating geopolitical situation, the volume of imports fell by 45.1%, but already in 2023 there was a recovery - mainly due to an increase in supplies from China.[1]

The Russian market of vending machines has grown 5 times over 5 years

The market volume of vending machines in Russia in 2023 reached ₽60-80 billion, having increased fivefold over the past five years. The data was presented at an industry meeting of retail representatives in November 2024.

According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, according to official data, revenue in the segment of trade through machine guns is ₽20 billion, however, taking into account self-service systems in stores, charges for electric vehicles and self-service washes, the figure is much higher.

2019: Network Connected Vending Devices Market - 4.2 Million Units

In early June 2020, Berg Insight analysts presented a study according to which the volume of the global market for vending devices with an Internet connection or a private IoT network reached 4.2 million in 2019. Experts did not specify the dynamics, but said sales of such equipment were growing. They predict 16.3 percent market growth by 2024.

In total, there are about 15 million vending machines in the world, of which about 28% by the end of 2019 were connected to technology networks.

The largest share of connected vending machines was in North America, where there are approximately 2 million vending machines, while Europe and the rest of the world share the remaining share equally and use 1.1 million each. Outside North America Europe and connected vending machines can mostly be found in,, and Japan China Australia.

The global market is served by various companies. USA Technologies, which owns more than 1 million connected vending machines, is considered the largest supplier in terms of installed machines. Other major suppliers are Ingenico Group, Nayax and Televend (INTIS). Of these, Ingenico and Nayax are considered international companies, while Televend mainly controls the European market.

In addition, numerous vending machine manufacturers are known. One of the leading positions globally is occupied by Crane Connectivity Solutions, and TCN Group is considered an important player in China. Trading operators working in this area most often cooperate with third-party suppliers, but some even provide their own solutions. Examples of such trading operators include the Chinese company UBox and the Italian IVS Group.[3]
