2024: World's first hydrogen vending machine launched

At the end of April 2021, vending machines for cooking pizza appeared in Rome in 3 minutes. A pizza-making vending machine called Mr. Go was installed near Plaza Bologna and operates around the clock. It offers four flavors: "Margarita," "Four Cheeses," "The Devil" and "Pancetta." Read more here.

2019: Network Connected Vending Devices Market - 4.2 Million Units

In early June 2020, Berg Insight analysts presented a study according to which the volume of the global market for vending devices with an Internet connection or a private IoT network reached 4.2 million in 2019. Experts did not specify the dynamics, but said sales of such equipment were growing. They predict 16.3 percent market growth by 2024.

In total, there are about 15 million vending machines in the world, of which about 28% by the end of 2019 were connected to technology networks.

The market has begun to gain momentum in recent years, and so far the main driver of growth has been strong demand for cashless payments. However, trading telemetry is expected to have a more transformative impact on the industry as these solutions enable operators to improve efficiency.

The largest share of connected vending machines was in North America, where there are approximately 2 million vending machines, while Europe and the rest of the world share the remaining share equally and use 1.1 million each. Outside North America Europe and connected vending machines can mostly be found in,, and Japan China Australia.

The global market is served by various companies. USA Technologies, which owns more than 1 million connected vending machines, is considered the largest supplier in terms of installed machines. Other major suppliers are Ingenico Group, Nayax and Televend (INTIS). Of these, Ingenico and Nayax are considered international companies, while Televend mainly controls the European market.

In addition, numerous vending machine manufacturers are known. One of the leading positions globally is occupied by Crane Connectivity Solutions, and TCN Group is considered an important player in China. Trading operators working in this area most often cooperate with third-party suppliers, but some even provide their own solutions. Examples of such trading operators include the Chinese company UBox and the Italian IVS Group.[1]
