Volume of E-POS terminals transactions in Uzbekistan increased almost 2 times in 2020

The number of payments through E-POS terminals increased by 15%, to 398 million. For conventional POS terminals, the indicator decreased by 12%, to 451 million. The number of cards issued in the country increased by 4.5%, to 4.54 million.

It is noted that one of the most innovative projects was the release of Uzcard-Mastercard cobaging cards in the country, in collaboration with Asakabank, as well as Uzcard-MIR cobaging cards, together with Alokabank, Halkbank and Kishlok Kurilish Bank.

The payment service issued about 350 thousand Uzcard-UPI (UnionPay International) cobaging cards, 6.5 thousand MIR cobaging cards and 696 Uzcard-Mastercard cobaging cards.

Residents of Uzbekistan conducted operations for $7.74 billion through terminals

There are 32 banks in Uzbekistan. The largest volume of operations was carried out through Agrobank terminals - 7.46 trillion sum (713 million dollars). The Halyk Bank has the most plastic cards in circulation - over 6 million units. The same bank is the leader in the country in the number of payment terminals - it has almost 57 thousand of them.

Capital Bank serves the maximum number of ATMs in the republic - 3104 units.

First electronic money system registered in Uzbekistan

In June 2020, the first electronic money system was registered in Uzbekistan, the Central Bank said.

In accordance with the requirements of the rules for the issuance and circulation of electronic money in Uzbekistan, the payment organization Brio Group LLC began operations as an operator of the OSON electronic money system, the report said.

The issuer of the electronic money system was the private joint-stock commercial bank Turkiston.

Data on the electronic money system are listed in the Register of the electronic money system of the Central Bank on June 16.
