2020: Director of Digital Development
On June 10, 2020, Boris Voskresensky was appointed Director of Digital Technology Development at Severstal and Director of Severstal Digital. This was reported by TAdviser in Severstal on June 25, 2020.
Voskresensky took the position of director of digital technology development at the company after the departure of his predecessor, Igor Bardintsev, to Beeline as vice president of the new division of the company - the data unit. As general director of Severstal Digital, Voksresensky was replaced by Donat Fetisov, who, after Igor Bardintsev, also left for Beeline. Severstal Digital is developing and investing in platform solutions, online products and services for the metallurgical industry and end users of Severstal products.
In view of the change in Severstal's management model, it was decided to create an end-to-end function responsible for information technology and the transition to data-driven management of the company. Severstal Digital remains a separate business unit led by Boris Voskresensky, who now reports to Severstal IT Director Sergei Dunaev, explained TAdviser in Severstal. |
At the same time, the company said that Severstal Digital and Severstal Infocom showed success in working together on a number of initiatives.
Given our ambitious goals, it is necessary to solve simultaneously - infrastructure projects, the introduction of production automation and quality control systems, the creation of solutions based on machine learning, "said TAdviser at Severstal. |
2022: Boris Voskresensky resigned from the post of general director of Severstal Digital and left the country
Boris Voskresensky left Severstal Digital, which he headed since 2020. He wrote about this on the social network Facebook (recognized as extremist and banned in Russia). According to the ex-general director of Severstal Digital, in March 2022, in connection with disagreement with the actions of state power, he left the country, and at the end of April left the company.
Severstal is a very cool company, and I am very glad that it was in Severstal that I stood at the origins of the application of machine learning in the Russian industry. What we have done in the field of the introduction of machine learning in metallurgy has very few analogues in the world: in 5 years we have gone from the almost complete absence of the use of this technology to the creation of solutions that control large units in real time with 5 +% effects on productivity (these are hundreds of thousands of tons of additional products). So I leave with sadness: the team is cool, the projects are chic, the work is interesting, "wrote Boris Voskresensky on the social network. |
Boris Voskresensky told TAdviser that he is now in Turkey and is not working anywhere yet.
I have plans to continue to engage in machine learning in industry on the international market, "he shared with TAdviser. |
The representative of Severstal, commenting on TAdviser the departure of the head of Severstal Digital, noted that at the moment Svetlana Potapova, head of the design department of this division, has been appointed acting director of Severstal Digital. She is responsible for the smooth functioning of the company, the further development of the portfolio of digital products based on machine learning. The company will announce the official appointment of the director of Severstal Digital additionally.
Under the leadership of Boris Voskresensky, Severstal Digital developed solutions that increase the performance of a hot rolling mill, introduced computer vision to detect defects in products, optimized the power consumption of air compressors, etc. In 2021-2022, the developer presented several large projects. So, in April 2022, the company announced the introduction of a new digital solution to increase the performance of the continuous hot galvanizing unit No. 4 (ANGC-4) of the Cherepovets meth plant (CherMK, a key asset of Severstal). The solution is built using machine learning. Earlier, in February 2022, Severstal reported that the economic effect of applying a new model for controlling the humidity of agglomeration charge on two aglomashins exceeded 100 million rubles. In the summer of 2021, the Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant (Vologda Oblast) introduced machine vision to control conveyors moving underground.
