The RT TV channel uses the thermovision equipment of Hikvision for temperature monitoring

2020: Installation of the thermovision equipment

On July 3, 2020 it became known that on RT TV channel the thermovision equipment of Hikvision for temperature monitoring is used.

So far TV channels and news portals broadcast appeals to stay at home during the self-isolation period to protect the health and health of people around, most of journalists remained in the workplaces and "in the field" to continue to create the news agenda and to prepare interesting content for the audience.

To the declaration of the mode of general self-isolation a part of employees of RT were transferred to work in the remote mode. However the cameramen, audio engineers, the leading and other experts involved in creation of news content in studios still visited office of the company. To continue work without prejudice to air, it was necessary to ensure safety of employees first of all.

At first temperature of each person at an input to the building was taken the manual IK-thermometer. However it became very quickly clear that it is ineffective, – process of measurement takes a lot of time, queues accumulate, the social distance is broken, the risk increases to catch. As a result the decision to automate process of control of temperature was made.

For the organization of thermal control the management of RT TV channel selected the thermovision solution based on the equipment of Hikvision company: two-spectral camera DS-2TD1217B-6/PA and portable thermograph of DS-2TP31B-3AUF. The stationary camera was used for permanent monitoring of temperature of the staff of TV channel coming to work, and a portable thermograph – for check of employees of the delivery services and other service companies.

This solution allowed to accelerate verification process of temperature several times as the thermal camera can check up to 30 people at the same time less, than in 0.2 seconds. And at the same time with an accuracy which does not concede to IK-thermometers.

Temperature measurement using the thermal imager – process technology difficult also requires observance of a number of recommendations at installation. For example, it is necessary to avoid reflection from glass surfaces of bright sunshine which can get on a thermovision lens and affect results of measurements. Faced such problem also when implementing the project for RT.

In several days after installation of a thermovision complex a system began to reveal a large number of people with a temperature of 40 °C! But, fortunately, the problem was connected not with incidence, and with existence of showcase windows on an input. Sunlight strongly heated the surface of glasses, people appeared on strongly heated background therefore also temperature which was fixed by the thermal imager turned out above real indicators.

The simple solution was proposed by specialists of integrator of the project, Ouch Pi Reshengiya company. The camera was reinstalled on a ceiling so that at temperature measurement "the hot background" was not created. Control measurement showed that a thermovision system takes temperature without errors again.

At the beginning of a pandemic we took temperature everyone entering into office RT manually, using the IK-thermometer. It long and inconveniently.
