On July 14, 2020 the OPPO company announced the first project deliverables on creation of autonomous 5G network in Great Britain and service of a 5G segmentation. The project is implemented together with partners – Vodafone and Ericsson – and is an important component of construction of autonomous 5G network in Europe.
The project on development of autonomous 5G network is implemented at the British University of Coventry. The network was tested using smartphones OPPO Find X2 Pro supporting a 5G and Reno3, functioning based on Qualcomm Technologies and a 5G platform MediaTek.
OPPO and Ericsson together with Qualcomm Technologies and MediaTek developed software solutions for the OPPO Find X2 Pro and Reno3 smartphones that users could switch easily from different segments within ensuring efficiency of interaction under any tasks. One segment was used for high-speed Internet access, another – for quick access of teachers and students to resources of the University and also for the organization remote training online.
According to 3GPP – the standardization organization drafting protocols for mobile telecommunications – 5G network has two modes: nonautonomous (NSA) and autonomous (SA) which has architecture of independent network using base stations of a 5G and basic 5G network. Large telecom operators around the world actively advance deployment of autonomous 5G network, calling it a network architecture of the future.
At the same time the 5G segmentation applicable to architecture of basic 5G network is a technology which separates physical network into several virtual end-to-end networks. Each segment is independent so resources 5G can be distributed and used more effectively under any user scenarios according to different characteristics of applications.
The autonomous 5G network and technologies of segmentation of networks are the last results of researches of OPPO. The company trusts in the future of intellectual connection and intends to save leadership in this sphere thanks to investments into research and development into areas 5G. OPPO conducts developments together with supply chain partners to advance technology 5G and to increase convenience of work of users and also cooperates with chief operators of communication and retail giants. The brand established partnership with more than 40 largest operators in Europe and is aimed at successful project implementation thanks to modern products and permanent interaction with the existing and new partners.
