2020: Inforation about application creation

In the middle of July, 2020 it became known that teachers in Moscow will be able to manage traffic lights using the application safely to carry out long school groups on the crosswalk. The program for the smartphone will be called Caterpillar.

According to the Moscow agency with reference to the press secretary of NTI "Avtonet" Yaroslav Fedoseyev, testing of such system will begin until the end of 2020. Creation of such technology it connected need with the fact that often school groups do not manage to pass the crosswalk during burning of a green signal as this time is calculated for one pedestrian. It reduces traffic safety.

The tutor accompanying group of children or the teacher will have an access to the traffic light through the special application installed on the smartphone. Our technology will allow the attendant to be connected to the traffic light via the smartphone and to click "Prolong". Then the green signal of the traffic light will burn one more period — Fedoseyev told.

According to him, during tests of new service the scenario of crossing of the road by group of school students was fulfilled. The application which is created within the Avtodata project will be brought into trial operation in the next one-two years. The representative of Avtonet assured that at the program there will be restrictions that did not use it in the hooligan purposes.

In addition to school groups, a system will allow to cross safely the road to people with limited sight, to disabled people and pensioners.

Meanwhile,  by request of Rosavtodor   the draft of the new document which regulates "technical rules of maintenance of traffic light objects" is developed.   The traffic police, Avtodor, the Russian road research institute, Rador and  other organizations took part in creation of the document.^[1]
