On July 15, 2020 it became known that the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (ARPORC) will conduct monitoring of mood of Russians in social networks through Big Data. The relevant agreement was signed with the Tomsk State University (TSU) which developed service using algorithms of processing of Big Data, reported on the website of university.
The key direction of joint work of TGU and VCIOM is development of the joint project on monitoring of moods of Russians in social networks. The created prototype is directed to detection of opinions of citizens about social, economic, political and other spheres.
As the press service of TGU specifies, in university there is already a similar service which will form the basis of joint development VCIOM and TGU. The analysis of social networks gives the chance to collect information from a huge number of users (for example, on social network "VKontakte", more than 90 million active accounts), so will allow to integrate the latest technology developments into sociological tools and to improve process of monitoring of public opinion, reported at the Tomsk state university.
Creation of joint laboratory will allow to integrate approaches and techniques of classical and "digital" sociology for work with calls of society which were unavailable to researchers and analysts quite recently — the research supervisor of the Center of the applied analysis of Big Data TGU Mikhail Myagkov reported. |
Cooperation of TGU and VCIOM develops also in the field of education. So, during 2020 partners will develop a joint online course. It is focused on mastering of new digital methods which can be used in social researches: mining and the analysis using algorithms of machine learning of data of social media, natural languag processing, the social and network analysis and digital ethnography.[1]
