Digital collections of Lyuben Karavelov library create using Elarskan

On July 22, 2020 it became known that within half a year in one of the oldest libraries of Bulgaria and the leading regional center for ensuring access to information and services create a fundamental meeting of e-books using the ELAR planetary scanner. Elarskan A2-400KC set in Department of digitization Lyuben Karavelov in 2019 is recognized very convenient for digitization of both ancient printing books and manuscripts, and modern publications.

The Lyuben Karavelov library stores more than 650 thousand volumes in the city of Ruse and actively works on digitization and promoting of book cultural and historical heritage. For six months using Elarskan the collections of books "Lyuben Karavelov" connected with cultural and social life of residents of Ruse after Release from an Ottoman yoke were already transferred to an electronic form. Among them there are works by the Bulgarian writers, cards with monuments, the museums and churches in Ruse, photo chronicles of creative festivals of the 70-80th years of the 20th century. A part of digital collections are available on the website of library. In the nearest future the Lyuben Karavelov collections will be completely transferred to an electronic form.

The model Elarskan is convenient for scanning of old printing books and manuscripts and also modern publications. Elarskan is equipped with a universal V-shaped cradle for books with independent adjustment of angles of opening and regulated deepening for a back of different thickness. The model represents completely self-contained unit with the built-in multifunction software for line scanning and postprocessing of electronic images. Elarskan of A2-400KC is feature flat folding glass which is ideal for scanning of rare books and documents.
