Opening a filtration point in St. Petersburg

Provider protection solutions DDoS-attacks StormWall has launched a filtering point in. St. Petersburg For the company, this is the tenth cleaning center. traffic By opening the filtering point in, the St. Petersburg security provider will be able to reflect even DDoS attacks in Russia faster and more efficiently than before. StormWall has opened a traffic cleaning center based on DPC Tsvetochnaya 2 of its partner. The Selectel company announced this on December 29, 2025.

The decision to open a filtration point in St. Petersburg did not appear by chance. The company always builds capacity where they are especially needed at the moment. According to StormWall analysts, according to the results of the 3rd quarter of 2025, Russia was in 4th place in the world in terms of the number of DDoS attacks. In addition, the volume of bot traffic in Russia in the 3rd quarter of 2025 increased by 1.7 times compared to the same period last year. It is worth noting that Russia has become one of the sources of malicious bot traffic sent to domestic companies (22% of the total volume of malicious traffic received). The opening of a new traffic cleaning center in St. Petersburg is StormWall's timely response to growing threats in Russia and the CIS.

The provider decided to strengthen the technical arsenal for a number of important tasks. First of all, it was necessary to increase the power and capabilities of StormWall solutions presented in Russia - protection against DDoS attacks for sites, networks and services, Antibots and WAF. It was also important to localize the threat - now the company's filtering systems are even closer to the sources of DDoS attacks, and the provider can reflect them faster and more efficiently. In addition, the task was to reduce the costs of the company's customers in St. Petersburg and provide them with the ability to directly connect to the StormWall cleaning system.

In addition, the opening of a new filtering point was necessary to minimize customer risks, because even with growing threats, their infrastructure will be fault-tolerant, and business processes will be stable. The company also sought to provide customers with additional georeservation opportunities within Russia. Finally, the launch of the new cleanup center made it possible to increase the total bandwidth of the StormWall filtering network, which already exceeds 5 Tbit/s.

ProWAF Integration

StormWall and Webmonitorex, a developer of a platform for protecting web applications, microservices and APIs, have entered into a partnership agreement. As part of the collaboration, StormWall is integrating Webmonitorex's Web Application Firewall (WAF) into its portfolio of solutions. StormWall announced this on May 15, 2025.

The technology partnership will allow vendors to strengthen the protection of client web resources in Russia. Using the WAF + AntiDDoS service based on StormWall and Webmonitorex solutions, companies will be able to build comprehensive security for their web applications against current cyber threats. These include both attempts to exploit vulnerabilities and multi-vector DDoS attacks that affect not only the application layer, but also the network and transport layers of the infrastructure.

According to the StormWall analytical center, in the first quarter of 2025, the total number of DDoS attacks on Russian organizations increased by 71% compared to the same period in 2024. At the same time, in the total volume of incidents, a high proportion of complex attacks remains, in which malicious traffic is directed to several levels of infrastructure or used as a "smoke screen" for other cybercrimes.

In addition to denial-of-service attacks, attackers are trying to implement hacks of online resources and their deface. According to Webmonitorex, the top web threats in recent years have included cross-site scripting (XSS), remote code execution (RCE) attempts, various injections, scanner attacks and brute force (password selection). Hackers are increasingly becoming a separate target API - the interfaces through which applications exchange data.

All these threats can lead to data leakage, inaccessibility of services and direct losses of the company. It is for such scenarios that the use of modern WAF is critical. At the same time, the antiDDoS service provides maximum protection of the business against DDoS attacks that can take place at different levels of the infrastructure, as well as associated downtime, associated financial losses and problems with the company's reputation.

The decision on a technology partnership is an important step for both StormWall and Webmonitorex. Both vendors have many years of experience in the cybersecurity segment and have high expertise in the field of protecting businesses from cyber attacks. Solutions of companies are included in the Register of Russian software and are in high demand among Russian companies. The Webmonitorex platform, in turn, is certified according to the requirements of the FSTEC of Russia for firewalls of type "D" of class 4 protection.

2020: StormWall System Description

As of July 2020, the StormWall system provides filtering of all existing varieties of DDoS attacks at the network, transport and session levels, as well as at the application level for HTTP (s )/Websocket traffic).

The three-level Triple Filter filtering system is designed in such a way that illegitimate traffic from packet generators cannot even theoretically go through and affect the client server. Thanks to the BanHammer HTTP flood filtering system, bots during an attack are automatically detected and weeded out from the stream of real users without interfering with their work.

Points of presence in Russia, the USA and Europe provide minimal delay for customers from Russia, CIS, Europe, Asia and America, processing traffic closer to the client.

Characteristics of the StormWall network:

  • About More than 2 Tbit/s of bandwidth without a connection check (stateless) - processing IP packets at the ACL/FlowSpec level without checking a TCP connection (blocking TCP/UDP amplification);
  • More than 600 Gbps of bandwidth with stateful - each incoming TCP connection is processed and analyzed;
  • The added delay time during traffic proxying is from 0 to 100 ms. In the case of proxying HTTP traffic due to the use of persistent HTTP connections, as well as HyperCache caching, an increase in the speed of the protected service is possible;
  • The number of protected sites, IP, data centers and services is not limited.
