Samsung delivered the protected gadgets to forests of Germany

2020: Use of Samsung Galaxy Tab Active2

On July 23, 2020 the company Samsung reported that the Department forestry Germany began to apply protected in the forest tablets Samsung Galaxy Tab Active2. The thought that natural resources cannot be operated infinitely, was for the first time stated in forestry more than 300 years ago and was realized in the project implemented by Samsung company together with Department of forestry of the federal land Baden-Vyurtember. For the purpose of preserving of natural resources and optimization of different administrative processes of 1500 district managing directors and employees of economy received the protected Galaxy Tab Active2 tablets from Samsung.

To observe balance necessary for the nature and to provide recovery of the wood, the staff of department carefully fixes location and quantity of the cut-down trees. Tablets are used for data writing about timber and GPS locations of wood yards (so-called stacks) and also for display of cards — whether it be aerial photographs or three-dimensional maps of height. Besides, having installed the corresponding application, forest wardens can fix data on the trees struck with a bark beetle, directly in the forest. Information is transferred to command center where it is analyzed for planning of actions for counteraction to the wrecker.

As employees work in the forest irrespective of weather conditions, the devices capable to maintain severe climatic conditions are necessary for them. At the same time gadgets should be easy, compact and equipped with rather big display. A choice was made for benefit of the Galaxy Tab Active2 tablet. It combines possibilities of the protected device with functions of the tablet for business. The shock-resistant body of this eight-inch gadget maintains falling from height of 1.2 meters, and Galaxy can work at temperatures from-20 to 60 degrees Celsius. The tablet has degree of protection of IP68 and is protected from water ingress and dust. Existence of the accumulator with a capacity of 4450 mAh provides a progressive tense of independent operation which is usually enough for the full-fledged working day. The device is also equipped with an electronic feather S Pen. The intelligent stylus is certified on compliance to IP68 standard too and ensures convenient and exact functioning of the user interface. Thus, orders and data can be entered in a digital form, even in a rain or in working gloves, claim in Samsung.

Before transition to Galaxy Tab Active2 the staff of economy worked with analog cards which quickly became outdated and were not really convenient in use — important points like places for the cabin of trees were noted by pencils. According to the results of the project the district managing director can determine the exact location by the GPS tracker which is built in the tablet, set this geographical point as a marker on the digitized cards and at once visually be convinced of its correctness. For this purpose even the Internet is not required: as work location is not taken often by communications, cards of 850 thousand hectares of the woods of Baden-Württemberg are stored locally on tablets and are available in a standalone mode. At the first connection to network of coordinate of GPS can be sent to addressees.
