2020: Announcement of Toughbook Omnia

On August 26, 2020 the Panasonic company presented the complete solution TOUGHBOOK Omnia based on programming language MCL for software development. The solution allows users of Panasonic TOUGHBOOK to manage projects of digital transformation and to reduce time of development of the user and special software applications from several months to several days.

Management of software applications on different platforms and in different operating systems can be quite difficult. Traditionally the organizations manage various mobile IT devices, form factors and operating systems, using differentiable approach. Providing a full integration and updating on all hardware and software platforms quite long and expensive process. John Thaker, the director of solutions and engineering of Panasonic TOUGHBOOK Europe explains

According to the company, thanks to the MCL platform - the environment of product lifecycle management on the basis of SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) created especially for mobile business solutions - development and testing of the user software applications are reduced from several months to several days.

TOUGHBOOK Omnia allows to transfer the solution of many business challenges to a digital medium, to add voice actuation to applications, to update existing applications for work in a backend systems or OS where there is a need for applications.

At a consultation stage Omnia developers analyze specific requirements of each business then they make recommendations about improvement of daily work and performance improvement by means of design and development of the user software applications. This process, covers development of all project lifecycle, including connection to several a backend to systems. Platform MCL allows to check architecture of the application to be convinced that the solution conforms to requirements of business process.

Then the full mobile application offering complete setup is created. The MCL mobile platform allows users to use different functions, such as expanded workflow with a possibility of a voice communication, the input-output functions increasing the accuracy of data collection on to barcode, voice communications digital signature GPS, to smart cards NFC and RFID; multilingual capability; integration about a backend systems; management of users; mode of the booth and desktop of the application.

After testing of Panasonic supports deployment of updated applications in business systems and OS to minimize a downtime and to improve work of end users. Applications MCL do not depend on OS and the equipment therefore after programming they can work in several operating systems that allows clients to change the OS in the future.

After application launch in operation of Panasonic continues to support the mobile solution, exercising remote viewing and device management for troubleshooting. Thanks to close cooperation with the Omnia command in the application it is possible to add functionality. Using the Business Intelligence add-on module it is possible to get data access and to performance status on the central control panel.
