At the beginning of September, 2020 about testing of the Russian Railway of the first trains with artificial intelligence. For this project cooperation with Cognitive Technologies company was organized.

We already made 10 pilot locomotives with AI, they came for testing to the Russian Railway. Now there passes one of test phases for certification of a product. If everything turns out, then security on the railroads of Russia will strongly change, the artificial intelligence should minimize number of state of emergency because of a human factor, he will not allow the person to make a mistake — the director of developer company of Cognitive Pilot (affiliated enterprise of Sberbank and Cognitive Technologies) Olga Uskova told TASS.

The first trains with artificial intelligence from Cognitive Technologies began to test the Russian Railway

According to her, her word trains use the complete hardware-software solution Cognitive Rail Pilot allowing to identify by means of computer vision objects on the railroad including other structures, shooters, ways, people, traffic lights, etc. By means of AI algorithms the complex is capable to estimate a situation, to issue to the driver the signals warning about danger, in case of lack of its reaction to make necessary decisions.

Uskova calls this technology first-ever and noted that Russia can become the first country which adapted neuronets and technical sight for decrease in accident rate by rail transportation.

The company is going to complete testing and get permission to industrial production in the fall of 2020. It is noted that the European transport companies are interested in development.

On the first test stage a system will work in the mode of hints to the driver along the line of the locomotive, and already on the next stage direct implementation of technology of automaintaining will become possible.[1]
