2020: Start of the solution for optical access of AirPON
On September 9, 2020 announced Huawei companies start of the solution for optical access of AirPON. This solution reuses the existing wireless nodes for the purpose of fast creation of full-fiber access networks for mobile operators and cost reduction.
According to the company, mobile operators pass to providing full range of services and face problems in creation of networks with completely fiber optic access (FTTH). Traditionally operators had to unroll the centralized optical linear terminals (OLT) in equipment rooms of the central office and to lay massive optical cables for communication with users. It requires large-scale initial investments and the solution of complex problems, such as obtaining the rights to use communication networks. Creation of networks always was labor-intensive and expensive process, at the same time services were provided slowly.
The solution AirPON reduces length of optical cables between OLT and users about more than 3 km to less than 300 m, increases efficiency of their laying and reduces a payback period of investments to less than 3 years. Gary Lu, the president of department of marketing of networks and sales of solutions of Huawei noted |
After the first start of the decision AirPON passed by Huawei in London in February, 2020 it was used during creation of networks of 45 operators from around the world. AirPON consists of optical linear terminals (OLT) of the series OptiXaccess Huawei, Digital Quick ODN (DQ ODN) and exchange service stations with the built-in AI of the OptiXstar series. The solution reuses the existing areas for mobile networks for creation of full-fiber access networks. The solution has following features:
- There is no need of obtaining permission to use of the areas: external OLT can be set on the existing platforms of support and towers with sharing of a transport network of the base station for data transmission via a reverse channel. Platforms can be selected quickly and precisely that accelerates project implementation for three months.
- The DQ ODN network supports function of digital control, technology of preliminary connection and parallel creation without merging of optical fibers. Normal technical specialists can quickly master installation and service of a full-fiber access network. Creation of network is 70% more effective now, and irrevocable costs for ODN became 20% less.
- eAI ONT intellectually defines types of services and uses technology of segmentation Wi-Fi 6 for the purpose of providing allocated channels for VIP-services, such as online education and games.
Convergence of the fixed and mobile communication (FMC) is a widespread trend for September, 2020, and the fixed networks represent a basis for providing a full range of services. At the same time creation of full-fiber access networks and for September, 2020 gains steam around the world.
