2020: Announcement of a system

On September 15, 2020 it became known of start in Russia of the IT system of the analysis and warning of the road accidents. Development which the Glonass-BDD company began to test is based on use of digital end-to-end technologies using neural networks, machine learning and also the analysis of data bulk.

The artificial intelligence implemented in a system analyzed 3 thousand km of the Russian roads and was the rating of their security on a five-star scale. Based on the pictures  taken by means of normal car DVRs "the digital double" of the road is created. The artificial intelligence analyzes images, considering quantity and width of bands, roadbed width, road elements are signs, lighting support, barriers, traffic lights, a marking, etc. Then on the basis of the Russian and international standards the safety coefficient is calculated – to each segment of a highway it is appropriated from one to five stars.

The main objective of the project – increase in traffic safety using the objective analysis of road condition. Regional and municipal authorities, operating organizations have high interest in the project — Alexander Nazarov whose words are cited in the press release said the CEO of Rostec.

According to him, a system is capable to analyze 1000 km of roads in only 7 days. Based on pilot tests of 50% of roads received five stars, about 6% of roads are ranked as potentially dangerous and received one star, he added.

Data from a system will be able to use the public and municipal services to integrate them with elements of intelligent transport systems and on their basis to book audit and to make recommendations about increase in traffic safety. Within two years it is going to develop system module with access to digital maps of roads for motorists.[1]
