Biography

Orichevsky district, the Kirov region was born on March 7, 1940 in the village of Berezkiny. Lives in the city of Moscow.

Education

1960: Perm technical school of railway transport

In 1960 graduated from the Perm technical school of railway transport (for 2020 - the Perm institute of railway transport - branch of the Ural State University of means of communication) with qualification assignment "technician-puteets".

1969: MIIGAIK

In 1969 graduated from the Moscow institute of engineers of geodesy, aerial photography and cartography (since 1993 - Moscow State University of geodesy and cartography), specialties "Optical-electronic Devices", qualification "engineer-optician-mechanic".

1976: Postgraduate study

In 1976 completed postgraduate studies MIIGAIK.

1985: Candidate of Technical Sciences

In 1985 the academic degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences is awarded.

1990: Doctor of Engineering

In 1990 the academic degree of the Doctor of Engineering is awarded.

1991: Professor

In 1991 as the solution of the Highest certifying commission it is approved in an academic status of professor.

1993: Diplomatic academy Russian Foreign Ministry

In 1993 graduated from Diplomatic academy Russian Foreign Ministry, specialty "Organization of International Relations", qualification - Diplomat.

Career

1960

Sverdlovsk railroad

From March to October, 1960 worked at the Sverdlovsk railroad as the foreman of crew on repair of artificial constructions of the 6th distance of track maintenance.

Military Service

From October, 1960 to September, 1963 served in the ranks of the Soviet Army, in railway troops the soldier of topographical service, and after assignment of a military rank "staff sergeant" - as the assistant to the chief of the railroad.

1969: TSKBEM

In 1969 - 1989 worked in CDB of experimental mechanical engineering (for 2020 PJSC RSC Energia of S.P. Korolyov): in 1969 - 1979 - the engineer in Design office (optic instruments for the space equipment), was engaged in development of optic instruments for lunar KK and for the DOS and KK "Union" space stations, working off of onboard documentation.

1978: It is enlisted in group of astronauts

On December 8, 1978 it was enlisted in group of astronauts - the astronaut-tester, the head of a complex. Participated as the flight engineer in three space flights at the Salute-6, Salute-7 and World space stations.

In 1981 at the Salyut-6 station - 75 days. In 1985 at the Salyut-7 station - 169 days: during flight docking with the Salyut-7 station which lost control was carried out, extravehicular activity with a 5-hour duration of works - for installation of the additional solar battery which recovered operability of the "dead" station is performed. In 1988 as a part of the Soviet-Bulgarian expedition on an orbital complex Union - "World quantum" - 10 days^[1].

1986: Head of Federation of swimming of the USSR

In 1986 - 1990 the judge of republican category on swimming headed Federation of swimming of the USSR; the judge of all-Union category on swimming; candidate for the Master of Sports in modern pentathlon.

1988: Rector MIIGAIK

In 1988 - 2007 - the rector of the Moscow institute of engineers of geodesy, aerial photography and cartography (MIIGAIK).

1990

Academician International academy of astronautics

Since 1990 - the academician of the International academy of astronautics in Paris on department of engineering sciences.

Vice president Opticheskogo society of D.S. Rozhdestvensky

In 1990 - 1993 - the Vice president of Optical society of D.S. Rozhdestvensky.

1993: Academician of the Russian engineering academy

Since October 25, 2013 (it is re-elected annually) - the Chairman of the board of directors (the independent director) of JSC CB Hlynov.

2019: Academician of RAS

On November 14, 2019 the solution of a general meeting of members of RAS it is elected the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

It is awarded with many government awards of other states and also awards and medals of the foreign states.

According to provision - to construct twice to the Hero of the Soviet Union a bronze bust in the homeland, in 2007 the V.P. Savinykh's bust in Kirov on the platform at K.E. Tsiolkovsky's museum is set.

It is forever enlisted in staff of the first company of the first educational battalion of military unit No. 11300 (in the settlement of Zagoryansky of the Moscow region), in arrangement of a company there is a berth assigned to it.

Family

He is married, there are a daughter and three grandsons (1990, 1996 and 2007).
