2020: Investment of 4 billion rubles into production
Artificial meat attracted the Russian investments. The Efko group decided to invest in its production 4 billion rubles. It became known on September 24, 2020. The Belgorod enterprise which is going to rely on production of vegetable analogs of meat specializes in dairy products and oil. At the first stage "Efko" is going to produce cutlets, later other semi-finished products also will be added to them.
To taste vegetable meat on the basis of soy protein from Efko will be the same as its natural analogs, declare it in the company. Cost is not disclosed yet, but it, according to representatives of firm, will be comparable to normal meat.
In August, 2020 Efko invested 100 million rubles in development of vegetable meat, and now 4 billion more in production.
First of all, we worked about a brand chiefs. Proceeding from their response, we made the decision to scale production. Why our company in a pandemic undertook this story? Against the background of the events consumption of vegetable analogs just considerably grew. Many people see the zoological nature in a coronavirus. Returning to the Russian market, we consider that it has a good potential. For September, 2020 at us rather large number of orders. assures the CEO of Efko Innovation Andrey Zyuzin

The brand and brand in the market are unknown. Besides, when low price, strangely enough, this wow - effect disappears. So if it is just on sale at the price of banal meat, then the effect of premiality for some buyer categories will disappear. |
In the Russian market there are also other players who make or develop meat analogs. One of them — 3D Bioprinting Solutions. For September, 2020 the company cooperates with KFC network. High price and reduction in cost of technologies — not the only call before the industry, the marketing and sales director 3D Bioprinting Solutions Andrey Rukavishnikov noted. But producers of vegetable analogs have an advantage.
In addition to cost, there is a question of certification. Neither our Rospotrebnadzor, nor even Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the present certified any of products of this hybrid or cellular meat. With vegetable such problems will not be because, actually, technology there is no difference, you from this haricot, peas or soy just cooked porridge or already in an extruder squeezed out something from it. Certification takes place very quickly, and cost in comparison with cellular meat low. |
For September, 2020 in the market of meat products in Russia, according to the Infoline-Analitika agency, the artificial analog occupies about 1%. At the same time billion investments of same Efko can pay off not earlier, than in several years, experts consider. Also there will be it as soon as the company arranges deliveries of artificial meat to restaurants.
Beyond Meat noted earlier that sales of their products worldwide in cafe and restaurants for the first quarter year-on-year grew more than by 50%. And heads of Impossible Foods say that since the beginning of 2020 the retail scope at the company increased by 18 times[1].
