2020: Message about construction of DPC Ochakovo

On September 29, 2020 Rosseti and Rosenergoatom (enters into Rosatom) announced the joint project — construction of data center in the territory of substation of 500 kV Ochakovo in Moscow. For implementation of this project of the company will create the joint operator of DPC.

It is reported that the DPC Ochakovo represents a data processing center which will conform to international standards of reliability. Within the project three buildings with a total power of power supply up to 48 MW and a possibility of placement to 4500 racks of the IT equipment will be built.

Rosseti and Rosenergoatom will construct joint data center in Moscow

In the fourth quarter 2020 Rosseti and Rosenergoatom intend to sign the agreement then will begin design and exploration work. Within the memorandum signed in November, 2019 between Rosenergoatom and  "Rosseti of FGC UES" the following will be made:

  • the concept project of future DPC is worked out;
  • the road map of project implementation is prepared.

In June, 2020 the head of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev told  the Russian President Vladimir Putin about start together with Rostelecom of the largest DPC in Europe and also about the idea to place such centers in territories of the nuclear power stations (NPS). According to Likhachev, this solution to facilitate work of DPC will also lower their costs connected with power for 25-30%.

In September, 2020 Rosatom began creation of data center in Innopolis. The company started design, and is going to put into operation the first stage of DPC until the end of 2020. Rosatom she intends to create about 1 thousand racks. About 3 billion rubles will be invested in the project, some more billion rubles will direct to the server hardware and deployment of virtual environment and commercial cloud of Rosatom.

According to the director of economics and finance of Rosenergoatom Concern Sergey Migalin, the state corporation is also going to start DPCs in Uzbekistan and Turkey.[1]
