2020: Functioning of IBM Power Systems in the period of a coronavirus
"Tape" used information infrastructure of IBM Power Systems in the period of a pandemic. The IBM company reported about it on September 28, 2020. According to the customer, a system sustained the peak loads connected with acute fluctuations of demand from buyers.
In general transition to the IBM Power Systems platform a few years ago allowed not only to increase performance of systems, but also to achieve the necessary level of stability and flexibility. The choice of an initial configuration allowed to increase gradually service lives according to requirements of business at the minimum investments at an implementation stage.
The Lenta company installed a complex of the IBM PowerSystems servers under problems of a BW system on SAP HANA in 2016, its parameters for September, 2020: 700KSAPS and 16tb memories.
The complex functions on average loading of 45%-50% during the working day. The equipment has good power reserve and provides performing transactions during the periods of peak loading of a system without increase in response time of service. High extent of utilization of resources together with a long cycle of support of the equipment reduces total ownership cost a complex and improves business indicators.

"Tape" also defined ways of improvement of consumer experience on the horizon in 3-5 years which will be based on bigger independence of buyers due to the technologies allowing to obtain all necessary information on goods without support of assistants, sellers and cashiers it is easy to find them in a trading floor, to quickly make purchase and also to use different types of services of e-commerce, such as click & collect or services of online delivery.
According to a research of IBM "COVID-19 and the Future of Business" within which more than 3800 heads of the companies in 22 countries and 20 industries were polled the pandemic induced most of top heads to accelerate rates of digital transformation worldwide, and traditional barriers on the way of changes, such as technology immaturity and resistance to changes, disappeared. According to the report of IBM, most the organizations make cardinal changes to the organizational strategy. For example, 94% of heads by 2022 are going to use the business models founded on platforms and many of them will increase the presence at ecosystems and partner networks.
Implementation of these strategy will demand scalabler and flexible IT infrastructure. Heads of the companies already expected it: poll showed that in the next two years the priority for benefit of cloud computing will grow by 20 percent points. Moreover, within the next two years heads are going to transfer more than the business functions to a cloud. At the same time involvement of clients and marketing will become two main business functions which this trend will concern.
