2020: Beginning of construction

On September 30, 2020 the governor of the Sakhalin region Valery Limarenko announced the beginning of works on creation of the region's first IT technopark. The project develops for the purpose of involvement of developers of digital products, he reported at the Far East forum "Oil and gas Sakhalin".

According to Limarenko, the technopark will integrate 1.2 thousand specialists, and it will allow to localize IT services for accomplishment of tasks of such federal programs as "The program of development of the shelf of the Arctic", the national program "Digital Economy", "Program of Development of the Northern Sea Transport Corridor".

Start of technopark on Sakhalin is planned for the first quarter 2021. Its purpose — development of the IT products competing in the market of the Pacific Rim was told by the governor of the Sakhalin region.

Earlier the Deputy Prime Minister of the Sakhalin region Sergey Baydakov, speaking at a meeting of council for investment activities, expressed the need to consider the possibility of creation of technoparks or business centers in the region as business experiences difficulties for conducting the activity.

He added that the land plot for creation of technopark in Korsakov is. Now it is necessary to make the decision on engineering infrastructure and the concept of future object.

Valery Limarenko at the same meeting charged to participants of investment council to prepare technical specifications for construction of technopark and noted that he of such objects will appear further on Sakhalin much more.

Besides, the head of the region emphasized that work on creation of industrial parks on Sakhalin is conducted not up to standard. With respect thereto making decision on withdrawal of the land plots under their construction — a step forward on improvement of the indicators connected with the cadastral registration.^[1]
