VTB started a pilot project on use of Wi-fi 6

Within strategy implementation of digital transformation bank VTB actively tests new technologies and changes infrastructure. Implementation at the Moscow office VTB on Trubnaya St. of a new wireless network Wi-Fi of standard 6 became one of projects.

What is Wi-Fi 6

Wi-Fi 6 – the new standard of wireless networks started at the beginning of 2020. Wi-Fi 6 works in frequency ranges of 2.4 and 5 GHz and due to technology of multiple access with orthogonal frequency demultiplication of channels (OFDMA) supports data transmission by one flow on several devices at once. It allows to apply effectively the solution in environments with a high density of access points – for example, in office spaces or campuses.

The standard allows to increase performance, provides high capacity, high capacity.

For ensuring protection of traffic of data of Wi-fi 6 uses a binding protocol of security of WPA3.

Architecture of a new solution

The wireless network based on Wi-Fi 6 at office VTB on Trubnaya St. in Moscow was built on the equipment of Huawei. According to VTB, the building of a campus historically was not completed with the Wi-fi system which need became especially obvious in the conditions of restrictions and remote work.

Wi-fi standard 6 was selected during creation of the system "from scratch" for expense optimization and expansion of technology partnership, - explained in VTB.

Access points of AP7060DN support speed to 6gb/with for the services requiring high capacity: interactive training using technologies of virtual and augmented reality, stream HD video of quality 4K/8K, multimedia, cloud desktops and others corporate services of wireless access, - Xiao Haijun, the CEO of Huawei Enterprise in the region Eurasia comments

In the project progress telecommunication equipment was updated. The building was switched from 4 x 1 Gbps to 4 x 10 Gbps by network connections with reference network of bank. Commands of VTB and Huawei participated in implementation. It is planned that Wi-Fi 6 will service up to 200 employees of the bank at peak load – up to 200 Mbps.

It is the first implementation of office network on the newest equipment of Huawei for VTB. The project was attentively controlled by managers and experts at all stages: approvals of technical solution, purchase, delivery and implementation that allowed to implement it in the shortest possible time, - Xiao Haijun notes

The press service of VTB noted that the bank "actively investigates the innovative solutions in telecommunication technologies". According to bank representatives, "time to draw final conclusions on scaling of the given new technology on the basis of experience of its operation is necessary".

By Huawei it was selected from quality of the partner for implementation of this project, proceeding from the speed of delivery to the period of the restrictions connected with a coronavirus. The received impressions of joint work with a command of Huawei were extremely positive, - added to VTB
