2023: Appointment as Director of Wikimedia ru

In May 2023, Vladimir Medeiko left the post of director of the non-profit partnership Wikimedia Ru (manages the Russian version of Wikipedia). The organization was headed by Stanislav Kozlovsky, who previously held the position of executive director of the organization.

2024: Entry in the register of foreign agents

In early February 2024, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation entered the executive director of the non-profit partnership "Викимедиа.ру" (engaged in the development of the Russian-language "Wikipedia") Stanislav Kozlovsky in the register of foreign agents. According to the agency's website, Kozlovsky "took part in creating messages and materials of foreign agents for an unlimited range of people." He also interacted with foreign information platforms, the activities of one of which were recognized as undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Justice said.

Stanislav Kozlovsky, in a conversation with RBC, said that he would challenge the decision of the Ministry of Justice to include him in the register of foreign agents.

If he gave any interviews to the media, then long before these media were recognized as undesirable, he said, commenting on the claims of the Ministry of Justice regarding interaction "with foreign information platforms, the activities of one of which were recognized as undesirable on the territory" of Russia.

In December 2023, Wikimedia RU announced the termination of work precisely because of the possible recognition of Stanislav Kozlovsky as a foreign agent. Kozlovsky stated that he did not know what foreign funding he had discovered from the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. However, it suggests that the possible status of the foreign agent may be directly related to Wikipedia.

Other members of the community have not received such warnings, but over the past few years it has been felt that people are afraid to cooperate with Wikipedia. The number of authors from Russia is falling, - said Kozlovsky.

The press service of the psychiatric faculty of Moscow State University (Kozlovsky worked there) said that the assistant professor was not summoned to the leadership, that the university was not aware of his "inclusion in any lists," and he resigned of his own free will.[1]
