2023: Departure from the Russian-language Wikipedia to the ANO, which created a new electronic encyclopedia
At the end of May 2023, it became known about the departure of Vladimir Medeiko from the post of director of the non-profit partnership Wikimedia RU, which is developing the Russian-language Wikipedia. He headed the ANO "Internet Encyclopedia Ruwiki," which deals with its own project of the Internet encyclopedia.
The Ruwiki project launches in June 2023 and at the start will contain the entire volume of Russian-language Wikipedia materials (1.9 million articles). The project is being implemented on Russian infrastructure and servers, with the involvement of Russian authors and registered in Russia.
The goal of the project, according to the creators, is to form an extensive array of tested materials and create conditions for attracting the maximum number of experts to work. In addition, the key value of the future resource is reliability, balance, neutrality, for the sake of which the creators will abandon the "hot" news and the breadth of thematic coverage. It will be a resource where they come for balanced accurate information, the Internet Encyclopedia of Ruwiki said in the ANO.
Wikipedia is such an important project that it is very difficult to reform it, primarily because it is scary to spoil it, says Vladimir Medeiko. - Fortunately, Wikipedia is a free project. Anyone can use its content for any purpose, including creating their own project based on it. A project that can be safely developed! It was this idea that formed the basis of Ruwika. |
The authors plan to actively use artificial intelligence, including to generate personalized content. According to Medeiko, verifying the information published in the encyclopedia will be in different ways.
We have an editorial office in which people sit and monitor information around the clock. Depending on the complexity of the topic, they deal with it on their own, or a more complex procedure occurs. Experts, scientific communities and institutions will participate in this, we will arrange public discussions. We are generally open to cooperation with all participants in the field of knowledge, "he added.[1] |
