2025: Major Cyber Attack

On December 6-7, 2025, a major cyber attack led to an unauthorized debiting of funds from user cards of the Uzbek fintech service Humans. The Central Bank Uzbekistan confirmed the fact of receiving appeals from citizens and began checking.

The first signals about massive fraudulent transactions appeared on social networks, in particular in the "Consumer.uz" group in one of the social networks. The complaints of the injured citizens were also recorded by the editors of "Газеты.uz" through a special bot.

Users reported that the funds were debited without their knowledge from bank cards linked to the Humans mobile application. In all cases, the payee was PL Humans P2P H2H.

During the audit, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan contacted Octagram JSC (Paylov trademark), which, on the basis of an agreement dated April 10, 2025, acted as a payment services operator for Humans. The regulator ordered to suspend from December 9, 2025 all P2P operations (transfers between individuals) through the Humans application to eliminate a possible vulnerability.

All suspicious transactions and technical processes of interaction between platforms were studied. Victims are recommended to contact law enforcement agencies.

As noted by "Газета.uz," the attack took place against the background of the difficult financial situation of Humans. On October 14, 2025, the Tashkent Interdistrict Economic Court satisfied the claim of Octobank JSC and declared Humans LLC bankrupt, starting the liquidation procedure without terminating the company's activities.

The basis for the court decision was the failure of Humans to fulfill financial obligations. On June 13, 2025, the court decided to recover almost 430 billion soums (principal debt, penalties and state duty) from Humans in favor of Octobank. The writ of execution was issued on July 14, 2025, but the funds could not be recovered. Initially, the bank filed a lawsuit to recover more than 500 billion soums, to which Humans filed a counterclaim due to "systematic failure to fulfill contractual obligations."

In early November 2025, employees of the Human Lab subsidiary informed Газете.uz about non-payment of wages. The amount of debt, according to the data provided, amounted to 1.5 billion soums.^[1]

2022: Purchase of UPay payment service

At the end of May 2022, it became known about the sale of the UPay payment service to the Uzbek fintech company Humans. The value and other parameters of the transaction are not disclosed. It is only known that Humans became the sole owner of UPay. Read more here.
