Telia Company made Nokia the exclusive supplier of RAN 5G network in Finland

2020: Delivery plans of products from the AirScale family

On October 23, 2020 Nokia announced that Telia Company made it the exclusive supplier of RAN 5G network in Finland within the 5-year contract which includes upgrade of traditional networks and updating of the equipment in 7500 points. Nokia, the old strategic partner of Telia Company, also became solution provider for a core in 5G networks of autonomous architecture in a number of the Scandinavian and Baltic countries, namely in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden.

Nokia will deliver to Telia company products from the AirScale family, including systems 5G RAN, base stations of AirScale and the solution for AirScale Nokia radio access. The contract provides upgrade of the existing wireless networks and deployment of 5G network in Finland. Nokia is a traditional supplier of wireless solutions for Telia Finland and also the supplier of cloud solutions for a core in 5G networks with nonautonomous architecture in all listed countries. These solutions will allow Telia to strengthen positions in the market and to offer individual subscribers and corporate customers network connections of excellent quality and good capacity.

The solutions Nokia 5G Core and Cloud Packet Core (CPC) will allow Telia company to unroll a core in 5G network of autonomous architecture which will become expansion of the existing core, on the basis of technologies of Nokia. The solution CPC Nokia set in the existing architecture of a core of Telia network using Control/User Plane Separation (CUPS) will work at the user level in 5G network of autonomous architecture and considerably will increase its scalability. The solution of Nokia for a core of network will allow Telia company to offer the unified services of access to networks of mobile communication of any generation (2/3/4G/5G).

In September, 2018 Telia and Nokia together developed the first dokommerchesky 5G networks in the territory of Finland in the cities of Helsinki, Vantaa and Oulu. The first commercial network began work in September, 2019 then deployment of 5G networks continued the accelerated rates in 42 Finnish cities where more than 25% of the population of the country live.

Our networks were of particular importance. They became this basis for digital economy. Nokia is our only supplier of autonomous reference 5G networks in all markets and the supplier of technology of wireless access in Finland. Our cooperation with Nokia is very fruitful and has an old story, especially in Finland. I am ready to continue our partnership as a result of which our subscribers get access to networks of the best quality.

We are very much pleased by continuation and expansion of long-term cooperation with Telia Company. Already more half a century we together with Telia offer customers network services. Today we together pass into a 5G era. We deliver to Telia technology of wireless access in Finland and solutions for a core in 5G networks in a number of the Scandinavian and Baltic countries.
