2020: Automation of a warehouse of spare parts based on InStock WMS
The InStock Technologies company announced on October 27, 2020 that it completed automation of a warehouse of spare parts of Knyaginya company.
The Knyaginya company is engaged in distribution of automobile spare parts within 20 years. Every year the goods turnover of the company increases. Develops dealer and partner networks in all regions of the country. The company has own logistic center. Achievement of good results of activity of Knyaginya company is promoted use of automation of logisticheky and warehouse processes. All warehouse logistics of the largest warehouse of auto parts is under control of InStock WMS now.
Before implementation the business analysis of processes in a warehouse was carried out, bottlenecks of a warehouse are defined and solutions for process optimization are proposed.
WMS were faced by tasks:
- The organization of a zone of acceptance (taking into account detailed piece acceptance, a large number of new articles);
- Automation of process of the managed placement of goods on storage with effective distribution by storage areas and selection;
- The selection processes of goods and the subsequent control optimized for each separate zone allowing to process a large number of order lines in day;
- Accounting of a turnover container.
For effective storage all arriving goods at a stage to acceptance are distributed on groups which are tied to certain storage areas. If orders of a krossdoking are created, InStock WMS defines what arriving goods already at acceptance can be sorted for shipment to certain clients.
InStock WMS analyzes all products arriving on a warehouse for determination of the storage area for each goods. For each storage area fillability thresholds are set, and InStock WMS distributes goods on zones according to these data. First of all – replenishment of zones of selection, then a zone of pallet storage and further a zone of buffer storage.
As a result of the acceptance organized thus process under control of InStock WMS provides accounting accuracy that influences further fall forward of selection and shipments to clients.
Strict separation of goods into groups and binding of each group to certain cells of zones of selection promote traceability of goods on a warehouse and fast selection of orders under control of InStock WMS.
InStock WMS manages selection processes of goods. In a warehouse several types of selection are used. A system reserves goods, checking their existence in necessary quantities in the corresponding zones of selection. If any goods in a zone are not enough, the WMS system it is automated creates tasks for hot replenishments.
For effective selection of InStock WMS plans routes for selectors. When planning a route a system considers the maximum volume and weight which can be placed on the cart and recommends to the selector how many boxes and what type to take for each order. To increase selection speed, a system at first defines quantity which can be selected pallets, then boxes, and the remained quantity reaches by pieces.
Process of control of the selected orders also is under control of InStock WMS. A system controls compliance of collected goods to the order. If the shortage is detected, then InStock WMS creates tasks for a dobor of certain positions of the order. At detection by the controller of defects or excesses, a system manages their moving to the respective storage areas. The automated control of orders minimizes errors in shipments.
Results of automation of InStock WMS in a warehouse:
