2020: The announcement of Dalion - an identification blockchain system

At the beginning of November, 2020 it became known that ten leading Spanish companies, including Santander, LiberBank, Bankia, Caixa Bank and BME, began to create self-governed model of digital identification using a blockchain.

The project known as Dalion, completed conceptual testing which led to the second development stage and testings for the purpose of deployment of a product in the real production environment in May, 2021.

Self-governed identification allows people to have access to the personal data, saving them in a uniform digital form, using at the same time only own mobile device. Users can solve at any time to whom to provide data, without need to fill tiresome forms. For example, users can use the data checked by other organizations to rent the car, to issue an insurance or to issue a loan for only several clicks.

The largest banks of Spain create a blockchain for identification of clients

The project is model-based digital identification of Alastria which uses a blockchain infrastructure of Ethereum and Quorum for processing and transfer of identifiers of users between the participating organizations. Alastria is the multisector Spanish consortium consisting of 600 partners including the large companies, the small and medium enterprises, state bodies and academic institutions.

The project unrolled by ten Spanish companies represents a technology call which will bring Spain to the foreground in terms of development of blockchain technologies and management of identification. The innovative technologies will allow both users, and business will cope with relevant problems in a digital medium, in particular with fraud and theft of confidential data.[1]
