Caixabank S.A. is one of the leading banks in Spain. CaixaBank has been conducting financial activities for more than 100 years and is a member of La Caixa Group, a banking group headquartered in Barcelona.

CaixaBank dismisses 7,000 employees

In July 2015, it became known that the American investment company Blackstone Group intends to acquire a portfolio of "bad" loans from CaixaBank for 790 million euros, Bloomberg reports citing two sources familiar with the situation[2].

According to sources, these loans were taken on recently built residential buildings, as well as land and designed buildings. Assets are mainly located in Andalusia, Madrid, Castile, La Mancha and Catalonia. The sale of the portfolio, known as Tourmalet, is expected to be completed at the end of the week.

Spanish banks are seeking to sell bad loans formed after the financial crisis hit the real estate sector, the agency explains. Creditors deprived property rights for overdue debts for more than 70 thousand houses in 2014, the agency quoted data from the National Institute of Statistics.

Acquisition of the Spanish branch of Barclays Bank SAU
