2020: Connecting traffic lights to an automated traffic control system
RIR (RuSat Infrastructure Decisions) on November 25, 2020 reported that about half of the traffic lights of Sarov (Nizhny Novgorod Region) are connected to an automated traffic control system. The project is being implemented by RuSat Infrastructure Solutions JSC (RIR, part of the Rosatom state corporation) as part of the development of the Smart City platform. The system allows you to remotely control traffic lights depending on the road situation, redistribute traffic flows to less busy areas and take prompt measures in case of emergencies.
The interface of the system is the corresponding service module on the Smart Sarov platform. It displays the road situation, traffic lights and the current mode of their operation, accidents, the level of traffic congestion, information from video surveillance cameras. All information is available online, as well as with the ability to analyze for previous periods. This allows city services to identify the busiest or most emergency sections of roads in order to take preventive measures.
| We continue to develop the Smart City platform, helping our cities to become more convenient and comfortable for life, "said Ksenia Sukhotina, General Director of RuSat Infrastructure Solutions JSC. |
The traffic control system in Sarov is part of the intelligent transport system developed by the RIR. This is a comprehensive solution that includes traffic management systems, parking space, passenger transport. It also includes the possibility of mathematical modeling and forecasting of the road situation and a system of weight and size control.
