2020: Upgrade of process equipment in RFID tag assembly area

The modernization of technological equipment at the RFID assembly site of the marks of Micron, a Russian manufacturer and exporter of microelectronics, implemented as part of the corporate Idea Factory program at the initiative of employees of the enterprise, made it possible to reduce the consumption of material and electricity, significantly accelerate the setup of equipment. Mikron announced this on December 24, 2020.

Micron is an enterprise of the microelectronics cluster in the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone, the enterprise has more than 50 patents as of December 2020. Micron's products play a big role in life - these are travel tickets, transport cards, chips for bank cards, electronic passages. Enterprise projects such as the Factory of Ideas contribute to increasing production efficiency, and the special economic zone of Moscow, for its part, provides a number of benefits and preferences, which creates conditions for more comfortable work and concentration of resources on the creation of high-tech products, "said Gennady Degtev, Director General of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ.

Modernization of production plants showed a good economic effect: we reduced the time for setting up equipment, reduced energy costs, and also minimized the use of manual labor in the tag control area. This is important with our large range of products and growing production volumes, "said Alexander Mikhailov, project author, lead engineer at Mikron PJSC.

The design changes of the web material cutting site allowed to reduce the installation setup time during product change by an order of magnitude. Also, on the basis of the RFID label programming installation, a mobile module was configured, which allowed to remove the limit on the minimum number of programmable labels and automate the process of their control. With the current production volume, the payback period for this modernization will be 6 months.

{{quote 'Micron's product portfolio for December 2020 has more than 200 RFID labels for various application scenarios. To ensure timely deliveries, it is important to quickly launch new products into production and reduce the risks associated with the human factor, so the time to set up equipment and automate production processes are critical factors for us, "said Vasily Volosov, sales director of RFID PJSC Micron. }}

Increasing labor productivity through more efficient use of the working time of highly qualified employees and expensive technological equipment is one of the tasks of digitalization of enterprises. A significant share of risks in modern production is related to the human factor, but it is also the most important resource of any enterprise. For Micron, digitalization routines are not only a tool to reduce operational risks and reduce costs, but also a tool for development, ensuring consistently high quality of products, improving working conditions and effective work.

One of the tools for finding the best solutions was the project "Factory of Ideas," aimed at developing employee initiatives. The project manager, which started in August 2019, is Irina Korotova, Director for Production Development at PJSC Micron. As part of the "Factory of Ideas" for December 2020, 17 initiatives are being implemented to modernize, reduce costs, optimize the production process and increase the efficiency of the enterprise, several more projects are under consideration. Each employee of the enterprise can initiate a project.
