Modernization of 21 traffic lights

UMMC-Telecom presented the results of the first phase of the implementation of an intelligent transport system in Nizhny Tagil. The company is working within the framework of the federal project "System-wide measures for the development of road facilities" of the national project "Safe and high-quality roads." This became known on January 22, 2021.

In just 2.5 months, UMMC-Telecom employees modernized 21 traffic lights, connecting each of them to installed automated control system traffic (ASUDD) in order to achieve the best effect in the operation of traffic lights and increase road capacity. In addition, the company introduced a geographic information system for collection, storages analysis and analysis in Nizhny Tagil. data

The map is presented in the form of separate layers, each of which is responsible for a certain category of information: video cameras installed in the city, traffic lights, transport detectors, moving public transport, etc. Such a map allows an engineer in the dispatch center to monitor the state of objects and quickly make the decisions necessary in each specific situation, "explains Alexander Bashmakov, project manager of the UMMK-Telecom group of companies.

In order that elements of the intellectual transport system earned in Nizhny Tagil fully, it was necessary to start the data-processing center (DPC), to equip it with servers, means of storage of information, switchboards and the systems of data protection. Since there was no suitable place for a stationary data center in the city, UMMK-Telecom implemented the supply and installation of a container data processing center.

We brought power lines, fiber-optic communication lines to the data center, launched software products. The installed SCPC is protected from harmful environmental influences, dust, moisture and smoke, it has autonomous power supply, air conditioning, ventilation and heating systems, a system for monitoring environmental and microclimate parameters. There is no provision for personnel inside, so the SCDC serves itself independently - it is connected to two independent power sources, a comprehensive safety system, an automatic gas fire extinguishing system, emergency lighting. Each of these systems is brought to the console of the corresponding services so that the installed sensors can timely report abnormal situations and malfunctions inside the center, "says Alexander Mitin.

According to Sergey Leontiev, project manager in Nizhny Tagil, the introduction of ITS will increase the level of road safety in the city, automate traffic management and, as a result, increase the efficiency of traffic lights and road capacity.

As part of the subsequent stages of the development of the intelligent transport system in Nizhny Tagil, UMMC-Telecom will continue to develop ASUDD, connecting another 120 city traffic lights to it. Employees of the company will implement a public transport management system, a system for monitoring the operation of harvesting equipment, transport detectors and smart stops are installed, which will be equipped with a minimum of public transport arrival signage, maximum - a scoreboard, USB charging and a CCTV camera that can count passenger traffic at stops and be used to maintain public safety in the city, - Sergey Leontiev adds. Start of ITS implementation

On January 11, 2021, SIMETRA announced that together with UMMC-Telecom they had developed the first stage of an intelligent transport system for the city of Nizhny Tagil. The implementation of ITS is carried out within the framework of the national project "Safe and high-quality roads."

With the help of ITS, it will be possible to achieve the work of the entire road infrastructure, and the competent use of an intelligent transport system will reduce road accidents, gas pollution, improve throughput, and increase average speed.

The analysis of the congestion of the highway will begin immediately after the New Year holidays, when the usual flow of transport will recover on the roads.

From the beginning of 2021, there will be a study, so far in manual mode, of the movement of traffic flows through which the installation was introduced. Traffic lights will be reprogrammed, traffic light control plans will be coordinated. And by the end of January, residents will be able to feel how much the center has become the most passable and transportable, "said Sergey Leontyev, project manager in Nizhny Tagil, UMMC-Telecom.

ITS will be fully implemented in five years. According to plans, by 2025 the entire network of traffic lights of the city will become "intelligent," and all urban specialized equipment will be reflected in the system, which will help solve city road problems in real time. For example, as of January 2021, seventeen low-floor buses with gas engine fuel have already been entered into the system, equipped with all the necessary equipment to appear on the map of the Lower Tagil ITS.

We can say with confidence that ITS is a necessary condition for the development of any medium and large city. When creating a system, an individual approach is important: the typical architecture of ITS and final services should be finalized for each particular city. This was how the project was developed in Nizhny Tagil. The city's ITS is based on a domestic solution that meets all standards, regulatory framework and methodological documents - the RITM ³ platform, "said Vladimir Shvetsov, General Director of SIMETRA.

The RITM ³ platform is designed to create intelligent transport systems. The solution provides real-time monitoring of the road situation in the situation center, visualization of the condition of thousands of objects in 2D and 3D, generation of analytical reports, as well as simulation of traffic flows.
