2021: Announcement of the JingOS operating system
In the middle of January, 2021 the first-ever Linux distribution kit created in OS style for iPad was released. It is about JingOS which users can start applications, get access to settings of the device and it is rather easy to move on them. The new operating system will be available to general public on January 31, 2021.

The developers who are standing up for JingOS want to correct a situation with the help of this operating system which they call "open OS with high-functionality for all users".
JingOS is not only operating system for tablets, but also the full-function Linux distribution kit. The operating system offers a full support of a mouse and the keyboard. Besides, all applications developed for this platform are supported by both the touch mode, and control mode at the help to a mouse and keyboards. Besides, in JingOS a number of Linux-based applications, for example, WPS Office and VS Code is supported. The distribution kit can be installed also on notebooks, but compatible devices include only Microsoft Surface Pro Huawei Matebook 6 and 14 with the touch screen so far.
The JingOS Linux distribution kit is based on Ubuntu 20.04, KDE v5.75, Plasma Mobile 5.20. Creators of OS note that until the end of 2021 Plasma Mobile will be replaced with JDE (Jing Desktop Environment). Also in the near future developers want to provide support of JingOS on tablets with ARM processors and on smartphones.
The release published at the forum JingOS assumes that the official JingPad C1 tablet will be released in June, 2021. The release of the version of JingOS v1.0 for this tablet is planned for June 30, 2021.[1]
