On September 23, 2021, Microsoft introduced four Surface devices on the Intel Core processor line, designed with Intel to highlight all the features of Windows 11. These include the first verified Intel Evo solution in the line and two models that received the universal Thunderbolt 4 interface.

2019: LGBT Community Accessories Release

At the end of May 2019, Microsoft introduced a new line of accessories for Surface laptops addressed to gays and lesbians.

In the assortment of the American manufacturer appeared the Surface Type Cover keyboard cover and Pride Skin patch for the Surface Pro tablet. New products are covered with strips of 16 colors, symbolizing all types of sexual minorities.

On May 31, 2019, a preliminary order was opened for the purchase of the Surface Type Cover. Its price is $160. June 27, this product will go on sale in the USA, Canada, Australia and the UK. Pride Skin is already sold for $15 in the same countries except the UK.

This is not the first Microsoft project aimed at supporting people with non-traditional sexual orientation. Previously, related topics were released for Windows 10 and Office, stickers for the Microsoft Mixer video service. In addition, the company released game controllers for Xbox with colors of the LGBT community.

Microsoft has released laptop accessories to gays and lesbians

The release of these Microsoft products is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, which are considered the starting point in the movement for LGBT rights in the United States. The first gay pride took place exactly a year after these riots.

In June 2019, gay parades will be held in different countries, in which more than 4 thousand Microsoft employees will take part. The company promises to donate $100 thousand to non-profit LGBT organizations in the USA, Great Britain, Australia and Canada. The association of homosexual employees in Microsoft appeared in the 1980s.[1]

2018: Surface Pro 6 Announcement

On October 2, 2018, Microsoft announced the flagship hybrid Surface Pro 6 tablet. It supports quad-core processors and runs 67% faster than its predecessor, the manufacturer claims.

The novelty received a 12.3-inch touch display PixelSense with a resolution of 2736  x  1824 pixels and an aspect ratio of 3:2. 8 or 16 GB RAM and 128, 256, 512 GB or 1 TB on-board SSD.

Depending on the configuration, Intel Core i5  (eighth generation) processors with integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 or Intel Core i7 with the same video adapter are used. The device has a plug-in keyboard that makes a laptop from the tablet and back.

There are two digital cameras with 8 and 5 megapixel arrays and the ability to record in Full HD format. There are Wi-Fi  802.11ac  and Bluetooth 4.1 wireless modules, a full USB 3.0 port, a slot for microSD memory cards, a Mini DisplayPort connector, stereo microphones and 1.6 W stereo speakers with support for Dolby Audio Premium technology. Oddly, there are no USB-C ports in the flagship tablet.

Microsoft Surface Pro 6 costs from $900

The physical dimensions of the product are 292  x  201  x  8.5 mm, the weight is 775 or 792 grams, depending on the modification. The battery life of the device, according to the developers, reaches 13.5 hours. The manufacturer also draws attention to the redesigned cooling system.

Microsoft Surface Pro 6 will go on sale on October 16, 2018 and will cost from $900 to $2300. Customers will be offered black, blue, red and gray colors of the case.

Hybrid Surface Pro 6 tablet supports quad-core processors

The tablet will be available in consumer and business versions running Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro, respectively.[2]

2017: Announcement

On May 23, 2017, Microsoft introduced the flagship Surface Pro tablet, which replaced the Surface Pro 4 model. The software giant did not attribute the number in the name of the new device, which is quite logical, given that the laptop has become rather an updated version of the Surface Pro 4.

Surface Pro has hardly changed externally. Unless the stand now allows you to place the display at a wider angle (up to 165 degrees), which is convenient for drawing and writing. The main improvements occurred internally.

Surface Pro received Kaby Lake processors

Chips on the Kaby Lake architecture took the place of Intel Skylake processors, which increased performance and battery life. Microsoft states that the tablet is capable of operating without recharging up to 13.5 hour, which is 50% more than its predecessor and 35% exceeds the autonomy of iPad Pro.

As for performance, Microsoft claims a 2.5-fold superiority over the Surface Pro 3 and a 1.7-fold superiority over the iPad Pro.

Surface Pro is faster and runs longer without recharging compared to Surface Pro 4

The developers made the gadget quieter by eliminating the fan. True, it is not available only in versions on Intel Core m3 and i5 processors, and the Core i7 modification has a cooler that makes noises at the level of only 18 dB.

The display remained the same - 12.3-inch with a resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels and an aspect ratio of 3:2. Up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of on-board SSD capacity. There are two cameras (with 8- and 5-megapixel matrices), an SDXC memory card slot, a 3.5 mm audio connector and Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.1 wireless communications.
