2020: Upgrade of the regional digital platform

The Russian company DEPO Computers carried out upgrade of the regional digital platform of the Kaliningrad region constructed on the modern geographically distributed computing cluster to the shortest possible time.

The single digital platform of the Kaliningrad region is constructed in 2019 by DEPO Computers company based on geographically distributed computing cluster. This technology provides placement of computer systems on two platforms located on considerable removal from each other: at emergence of any failure on one of them all regional information systems continue to work for another. Thereby the highest level of reliability and availability of information systems and services for residents of the Kaliningrad region is provided.

Problem definition

The ministry of digital technologies and communications of the Kaliningrad region by the first in Russia unrolled the centralized failsafe regional hardware-software platform using advanced technologies of geographically distributed computing for ensuring disaster tolerance of a single digital platform of the region. The geodistributed computing cluster was developed and unrolled by the Russian company DEPO Computers – the systemically important enterprise of the radio-electronic industry of Russia. Solution description

The DEPO Computers company developed for upgrade of a single digital platform of the Kaliningrad region and implemented a hardware-software complex "The virtualization module based on the hardware and software system DEPO Zeus 700", the technical module based on a server cabinet of DEPO Rack 610P and the module of defense of perimeter of KSPD DEPO Dionysus 200 which expanded possibilities of the cluster constructed in 2019 twice.

The Kaliningrad region uses the most advanced technologies that allows to continue to carry out the tasks of quality improvement of life of citizens facing the region, creations of steady and safe information infrastructure, ensuring training of qualified personnel and increase in efficiency of public administration due to implementation of digital transformation of public administration and priority branches of the economy. The geodistributed computing cluster was started in 2019, and for the period showed to operation the highest level of availability of the unrolled information systems and services.

Uniqueness of works

Key feature of the project – unique vysokotekhologichny works on the execution. For the first time in Russia works on transfer of one of platforms of the geodistributed cluster on the new place with preserving of operability of a single digital platform of the region are performed. For this purpose before start the comprehensive plan of actions on the case of emergence of emergency situations and failures guaranteeing maintenance in time no more than two hours was developed.

The plan provided a complex of actions for all possible scenarios of negative development of the situation. Thanks to high qualification of specialists of DEPO Computers of any failure during a transient period did not arise. All regional information systems of the region operated normally.
