Launch of cloud cluster in Western Siberia

Oxygen, an operator of a network of data centers and a provider of cloud services, launched in April 2021 into commercial operation the regional segment of its own cloud platform Oxygen Cloud Platform with actual placement in the Tyumen region. Now Oxygen's cloud products are available to companies and government organizations of the Ural Federal District and beyond, as well as Chinese companies developing their business in Russia and Europe.

The launch of a cloud cluster in Western Siberia is part of a regional business development strategy that provides for the company to enter all federal districts of Russia and build a network nationwide. Tyumen was chosen as the site as the geographical center of the region and a city with significant potential for the development of digitalization. This is the fourth site of presence of Oxygen, which operates and offers cloud services in Moscow, Luxembourg and Singapore.

The company has launched its own cloud platform Oxygen Cloud Platform in the region. It will allow customers to receive services under the Infrastructure-as-Service (IaaS), Application-as-Service (SaaS ) and Platform-as-Service (PaaS) models. This is the technological basis for the development of sectoral digital platforms for the public and private sectors of the economy, functional mobile services, with practically no restrictions on scaling. The cloud includes cybersecurity services for certification of information systems for compliance with Russian legislation and increasing the level of business security.

Companies of the Ural Federal District, in particular, located in the Tyumen Region, the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, now have the opportunity to transform their own IT strategies and related assets into an operating model of the service cycle, which has significant economic and technological advantages compared to the traditional approach to localizing IT infrastructure. In particular, companies will be able to transfer capital costs for the purchase of hardware and software to operating ones. This will be an effective tool for reducing costs, optimizing the cost of ownership and increasing the competitiveness of the region's economy. Oxygen's cloud infrastructure will be used by companies in various sectors of the economy - fuel and energy complex, industry, IT, financial sector, retail, small and medium-sized businesses, as well as state-owned companies and organizations that will have access to the state region. In addition, the Oxygen cloud platform in Tyumen will become a hub for companies from China working with Russian and European customers.

Kulakov Pavel Alexandrovich, founder and CEO of Oxygen: "We chose Tyumen as the most advanced and active city in the region, which will become a transit hub for technologies throughout the macro-region. We want to be closer to our customers and see a huge need for market players in modern technology platforms to digitalize their business. It is very important for companies working here to have access to cloud infrastructure in their region. The regional segment ensures the fastest and most reliable access to resources, ensuring a high speed of interaction with information systems. On the basis of the branch, we want to create an IT competence center for companies in the region, which will allow businesses to make a significant breakthrough in digitalization. We plan to further develop our regional business and enter new regions in accordance with the priorities of the national project "Digital Economy."

Launch in Russia

The operator of the capital data centers cloudy provider Oxygen and launched Russia the object S3 into the platform data storage based on the solution. NetApp StorageGRID This became known on February 2, 2021. S3 from OXYGEN is a high-performance storage platform that data allows you to access data from anywhere in the world within the object model with access rights and without performance scaling restrictions.

The product was implemented by OXYGEN engineers with support from NetApp. The choice of NetApp StorageGrid software is due to the large functionality of the solution, high reliability parameters for enterprise clients and 98% compatibility with AWS S3. A key feature of the NetApp StorageGrid product created by OXYGEN engineers is the high performance of the system, which is achieved by using a cluster of several NETAPP FAS2720 and AFF300 DSS, as well as deep integration with the OXYGEN cloud product stack.

The model of providing disk space involves storing such types of "hot" data as content of websites and applications, big data, analytics, public files, etc. Object storage of S3 is also convenient for such types of "cold" data as archives, records from video surveillance systems, document management, etc. The storage control panel allows you to configure the performance parameters of the cloud service.

Integrating S3 with the OXYGEN Cloud Platform and other tools will significantly improve efficiency and complement OXYGEN's cloud product line - from VMWare to Kubernetes.

Cloud storage is deployed in OXYGEN's own data center in Moscow, which meets the TIER III reliability level and has been ensuring uninterrupted operation of all client services since launch for 10 years. At the same time, additional points of presence of cloud data storage are located in Luxembourg and Singapore. All this guarantees customers high availability and the ability to back up data three times in different geographical points, fast read and write speeds, 24/7 technical support.

A feature of the S3 client solution is the ability to store files of any type and volume, with a high level of reliability and availability. This solution is most convenient from the point of view of functionality. It allows you not only to store information, but also to provide online and convenient access to any storage object. We are confident that our service, built on NetApp technologies, will be in demand by customers from different industries.

The NetApp StorageGRID solution, once well established for both unstructured and distributed storage, has received another round of development as the basis for creating S3 cloud storage. I am confident that this platform, built on the basis of NetApp StorageGRID, will allow OXYGEN to provide competitive cloud storage services, and its customers to benefit from the use of[1] cloud[2].
