This historical event. Today in civil aviation of technology are exhausted, and there is a fight for green aircraft, for the future of aircraft, for new types of fuel. Today we show that break which could be made thanks to Federal fund of perspective researches, thanks to the government on behalf of Minpromtorg, it is the first step to creation of the electric airplane — the CEO of the National Research Center (NRC) "Institute of N.E. Zhukovsky" Andrey Dutov after rolling of the YAK-40 airplane on which a new system was installed said.

It consists of two elements:

  • in "tail" of the airplane the hybrid power unit — the turboshaft turbine jet with the electric generator is located;
  • on "nose" of the airplane the innovation electric motor on the 500 kW high-temperature superconductors is located.

In the Russian Federation tests of the YAK-40 airplane with the electric motor began

The power unit is developed by institute of aviation engine building of P.I. Baranov with participation of other Russian actions and Minpromtorg, and the engine — Superoks company under the contract with Fund of perspective researches.

On the first test phase the airplane with the included power supply of the electric motor made jog on a runway to check operability of systems at the movement of the aircraft on the ground.

As a result specialists noted correct joint work of the equipment of the airplane and the electric motor. Besides, the main operation modes of the electric motor and its systems were checked: chilldown, start-up, a stop, work under loading.[1]
