2024: Bankruptcy

At the end of June 2024, it became known that the owners of the Russian seller Elena Furs fur coats were brought to subsidiary liability for debts exceeding 450 million rubles. The fur factory itself went bankrupt due to market difficulties.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, Pavel Semenov, interim manager of the bankrupt Elena Furs LLC (the operating company of the Elena Furs fur sales network), filed an application to bring the company's leaders to subsidiary liability. Among the defendants are Artem, Mkhitar, Susanna and Elina Stepanyan - all of them are members of the same family.

Elena Furs owners are brought to subsidiary liability for debts exceeding 450 million rubles

The bankruptcy of Elena Furs in March 2023 was initiated by IFNS No. 4 in Moscow. According to the results of the field audit for the period from April to December 2017, taxes and fines in the amount of 450 million rubles were determined against the company. In general, creditors' claims for 453 million rubles were brought against Elena Furs, while the amount of subsidiary liability as of mid-2024 was not determined.

The IFTS ruled that Elena Furs committed a tax offense by illegally submitting the amount of VAT to the deduction and overestimating the costs of calculating income tax. The company tried to challenge the ruling, but lost in three instances.

In addition, the factory faced other difficulties - in particular, with a drop in demand for fur products. At the same time, as noted by fashion analyst Olga Steinberg, the network was unable to diversify the assortment in time, which is why it was in a difficult position. According to Semenov's statements, the company that operates nine stores does not own any property, so he intends to apply for bankruptcy proceedings in the company.[1]
