Rutvit

Rutvit — the website, the first Russian microblogging service in real time allowing the users to write tweets which go to readers in real time. Tweets are short messages up to 140 characters long. The word a tweet comes from the name of the popular twitter.com microblogging service (in English the word tweeter means "a loud-speaker for transfer of high-pitch tone" or "the loudspeaker for high audio frequencies"; it comes from the verb tweet — to chirp, chirp).

Rutvit's alpha is started on October 6, 2009. On November 30 there was API for application developers and services.

Registration

Registration in Rutvita is limited. For registration on the website it is necessary to write the first tweet containing the short story about the good dream. A special system checks how suitable dream was told by the user, and defines whether to register the user on the website or not.

• Rutvit's users sometimes call Rutvityanami by analogy with "tvitteryana".
• One of creators of the project is Dmitry Koterov — the co-founder of social network my Circle which was purchased in 2007 by Yandex company.
• It is possible to publish tweets through sending the SMS for room +7 916 140 0 140 at the price of the normal message in Rutvita.
• In Rutvita it is possible to subscribe for messages of the Russian media.
• Using Rutvit it is possible to export tweets to Twitter, Facebook and Friendfeed at the same time.
• Rutvit's API is compatible to Twitter of API. It means that any application written for the Twitter microblogging service after replacement of several code lines can work in Rutvita.
• Through Rutvit Direct air – a website element is implemented (widget) which allows visitors of a resource to correspond among themselves in real time.

Differences from the western analogs

The main difference of Rutvit is that he is focused first of all on Russian-speaking users. Rutvita is implemented:
