The Red Hat company considers that purchase of Oracle of Sun company did not improve its position in the open source market of software at all, and activates own development process of the software.

The president on products and Red Hat technologies Paul Cormier said that he does not consider Oracle as open source of vendor, reasoning it with the fact that even Sun in comparison with Red Hat was not fully open source the company.

"And did not come to my mind to call them open source players", - Kormye said. "When the company is forced to make the choice to what products to be "open" by what - "closed", clients suffer first of all", - he added.

According to the top manager of Red Hat, Sun sometimes made community "gifts": for example, development of MySQL concerns like those. The majority of software products with the open code which were controlled by Sun will remain property of the public, however, according to Kormye, "the openness consists not only in availability of the code".

On his words, this term means also existence of community of developers, in this sense of OpenSolaris – not fully open source a product. "There is no community, all work is performed by Sun developers", - he explained.

As for Oracle, this vendor has really open only small fragments. "Unlike them, everything that does Red Hat is open. We never say: this part of the operating system will be open, and this – closed", - Kormye considers.

Let's remind that acquisition of Oracle of Sun company caused confusion in the industry of the open source software. In particular, the director of Sun of open source Simon Phipps left the company after the transaction though some analysts also predicted that open source can "recover" under the direction of Oracle as the corporation is stabler in the financial plan than Sun.

In particular, one of the key status lights open source of the industry is development of community of Java developers. According to Kormye, here so far you should not worry about influence of Oracle. "We watch this process and meanwhile we accelerate own development cycle", - he was recognized.

Meanwhile, when Oracle only purchased Sun controlling Java, MySQL and OpenSolaris technologies, the analyst of Gartner George Weiss predicted that the transaction will make Oracle "undoubtedly, the most influential open source vendor in the world".
