In May, 2010 Simon Phipps held a position of the director of strategy in the Norwegian company ForgeRock. Mr. Phipps who was earlier holding a position of the director of SUN Microsystems of the open source software is included into the management of OSI (Open Source Initiative, one of the main organizations which are actively engaged in promotion and promotion of the open source software) and Open Source for America (the organization which assists the U.S. Government in use of the open source software); in ForgeRock it is faced by a task of plan development to make the company "perfectly opened" the player in the market of software for access control. The main place in plans of ForgeRock is taken by OpenAM founded on the product Sun OpenSSO which development Oracle refused. Other products ForgeRock: OpenESB, OpenIdM and OpenPortal (founded on LifeRay). Mr. Phipps writes in the blog that one of main advantages of the free software is that, in case of the solution of the author to stop development, any development team can take the source code and continue its improvement. "So it looks good in the theory, – Phipps says, – but how it works actually? I also am going to find out it!"
