2021: Presentation of a Solution for Automating the Garment Design Process

On March 4, 2021, Accenture announced that the Liquid Studio Accenture Innovation Lab in India has developed a solution that will automate the process of creating clothing design for fashion brands. With the help of development, you can not only accelerate the release of collections to the market, but also predict the demand for certain models.

Accenture leverages libraries, artificial intelligence technology capabilities, and neuronets machine learning deep learning to analyze data historical collections sales and help design collections based on anticipated demand.

Fashion designers are offered two assistants: Apparel-Style-Merge and Apparel-Style-Transfer. With them, you can combine elements from several items of clothing and create new designs, as well as "customize" clothes using different styles, shapes, fabrics and colors.

In the fashion industry, everything is changing very quickly: many brands update collections more than once a season, as it was before, but once every few weeks. The tasks of designers have become more complicated - they require not only tremendous speed, but also compliance with the needs of customers for individualization of design. Thanks to AI and neural networks, any designer can now accelerate and simplify such work by making friends with mathematics and creative imagination, "said Arseny Kondratyev, head of Liquid Studio Accenture in Russia.

According to ShareCloth estimates, about 30% of clothing produced in the world in 2018 was not sold at all and went to waste. AI-based work will help brands respond faster to market sentiment and increase the efficiency of creating collections and selling.

According to a study conducted by Accenture in conjunction with Fashion University, the use of such tools accelerated the process of combining options in special programs for designers from 10-15 to 2-3 minutes.

According to Arseniy Kondratyev, the development can also be used for other industries - for example, in the automotive industry to create the design of new models.

The decision is also relevant for Russia, it will reduce the time of designers to perform routine operations, freeing it to solve more complex and creative tasks, "he notes.
