In mid-March 2021, BMW introduced the BMW iDrive 8 infotainment system. The novelty is endowed with support for 5G networks and understanding of natural speech. It it is planned to establish for all completely electric avtomobilyahBMW iX and i4.

The key element of the BMW iDrive 8 will be curved BMW displays, including a 12.3-inch high-resolution information panel for the driver and a 14.9-inch touch screen for multimedia control and navigation behind a gently curved plate made of anti-glare glass. It is located at an angle to the driver, but the passenger can also use it.

Screens will be installed at the top of the dashboard. The central console will also contain a iDrive controller, a combined joystick and a BMW rotary switch. Users will be able to choose the most preferred option: physical control, touch input or voice commands.

The structure of the BMW menu has been changed, three layouts have been added - Drive, Focus, and Gallery, which change the amount of information displayed. In "calm" mode, only the speed of the car will be displayed. Various widgets will also be available, such as multimedia, navigation, driver assistance, and acceleration.

Three different levels of navigation will be available to the warrior: from adaptive, which shows important details of the route, to advanced, which provides complete information. A quick access menu will also be added for the most commonly used features, such as media presets, navigation directions, phone numbers, and submenu links.

The interaction of the car and the driver will be ensured by a voice control system, called BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. It will interact in a natural language and answer a variety of questions - for example, about sights or the availability of parking at the destination.[1]
