2021: Launch of base station in the village of Redkoye

Rostelecom on March 19, 2021 announced the launch of the first base station in the village of Redkoye, Nazavevsky District, Omsk Region, as part of a project to eliminate digital inequality.

Thus, the country began preparations for the implementation of the second phase of the project to eliminate digital inequality (TSC 2.0). The coverage area of the base station in the village of Redkoye, on which high-quality mobile Internet is now available, also covers neighboring settlements.

The launch ceremony of the base station was attended by the Governor of the Omsk Region Alexander Burkov and the Vice President - Director of the Macro-Regional Branch (MYFF) of Siberia PJSC Rostelecom Nikolai Zenin, who were in the Situation Center of the region. With them, on a video link from the village of Redkoye (170 kilometers from the regional center in a straight line) were the technical director of the Omsk branch of Rostelecom Yuri Zaborsky and residents of the settlement. During public testing, mobile Internet speeds reached 50 megabits per second, which are enough for reliable video communication, distance learning or telemedicine.

{{quote'The digital country begins with the creation of a powerful and extensive infrastructure for Internet access. We are pleased that the pilot base station as part of the preparation of the TSC 2.0 project is installed in the Omsk region, including due to the interest and participation of the governor of the region. Only beyond the Ural ridge can you fully feel the scale of our country, what are the expanses and distances. The TSC 2.0 project for the first time includes the provision of mobile communications in small settlements in which it is unprofitable for business to build base stations due to the small number of users. In this situation, the state comes to the rescue, launching universal communication services and thereby helping to eliminate the digital inequality between the city and the village, "said Nikolai Zenin, vice president and director of the Sibir MYFF, PJSC Rostelecom. }}

In 2021, the second phase of the project to eliminate digital inequality will begin. It includes the provision of high-speed Internet in villages and villages with a population of 100 to 250 people, as well as the beginning of the provision of mobile communication services in small settlements (from 100 to 500 people), where they are unavailable by March 2021.

During 2021-2030, it is planned to provide mobile communications to more than 24 thousand settlements in Russia. Residents will be able to use not only telephone communication, but also get mobile Internet access services. The base stations of mobile communication networks are planned to be connected mainly through fiber-optic communication lines, which will ensure high-speed data transmission, as well as significantly increase the coverage of the country's settlements with optical infrastructure.

When launching a mobile network in the village of Redkoye, all residents of the village were offered SIM cards. This practice is planned to be extended to all settlements of the project.
